Australian robotics companies are seeking manufacturing partners in Luohu District, with four projects presented at the first event of the Asia-Pacific SME Cooperation Zone’s Rotating Service Month on Oct. 12.
Held at the Shenzhen Going Global Center, the Australian Robotics Enterprises Matchmaking Event focused on robotics and intelligent hardware. The event attracted more than 20 companies.
AGGI, a Sydney-based nonprofit organization specializing in cross-border technology incubation and innovation, joined Australian robotics companies in presenting four projects open for direct discussion: a portable AI-powered care and fall-prevention device, a collaborative-robot palletizing system, customized prototyping for elderly-care robots, and a smart scent device.
Rather than seeking sales channels, the projects are looking for local manufacturing partners with practical engineering experience. The aim is to work together on engineering development, prototype production and small-batch trials, with the potential to scale up to mass production.
Andy Li, project transformation lead at AGGI, said the products already have established application scenarios and software development foundations in Australia. The organization hopes to find suitable manufacturers in Shenzhen and build long-term supplier partnerships.
Li said Luohu was chosen for its responsive service mechanisms, extensive business network and ability to match companies with relevant partners. AGGI has worked with Luohu for three years. Since joining the Global Partner Alliance of the district’s Enterprise Going Global Service Platform, it has maintained regular trade and business exchanges and helped connect companies with supply and demand opportunities in Shenzhen. Cooperation has expanded from new materials and energy storage to biotechnology and robotics.
Sohan Domingo, CEO of Edgegenix Pty Ltd., said the event offered companies an efficient, direct way to identify promising partners amid a large volume of information. He said he had established potential cooperation links with several participating companies and planned to return to Shenzhen next year to develop the collaboration into a demonstration case. He also hopes to encourage more Australian and international companies to visit Shenzhen to explore opportunities in person.
Luohu has increasingly used industrial supply-chain matchmaking as a key part of its services for companies seeking to expand overseas. In recent years, the district has received business and trade delegations from countries including Brazil, Australia, South Korea and Uzbekistan.
