Luohu’s commercial areas were crowded during the National Day holiday, as the consumer market showed strong activity across the district.
During the just-concluded holiday, Luohu received 1.40 million visits, with average daily visits up 14.1% from the same period in 2025. Inbound visitors accounted for 414,700 visits, a 5.3% year-on-year increase on a daily average basis. Tourism revenue reached 1.52 billion yuan (US$211 million), up 12.7% on a daily average basis, while international tourism revenue totaled 611 million yuan, an increase of 9.1%.
The district’s 13 major commercial complexes recorded approximately 6.2931 million visits, up 15.55% year on year. Their combined sales reached about 425 million yuan, a 5.33% increase from a year ago.
CCTV News reported October 5 that the Luohu Checkpoint handled an average of approximately 250,000 passenger trips a day during the holiday. The checkpoint introduced measures including facial-recognition services and dedicated green channels to help travelers pass through customs more efficiently.
In separate reports on October 4 and 7, CCTV News highlighted Luohu’s “film + food” consumption pilot. Through a ticket-stub benefit-sharing scheme, the initiative links moviegoing with visits to food and commercial districts, encouraging traffic to flow in both directions.
The MixC shopping mall in Luohu recorded approximately 1 million visits over the holiday, up about 25% year on year. Its Black Pearl Food Festival attracted 80,000 visits and generated 2.5 million yuan in on-site retail sales. The mall’s cumulative sales reached about 200 million yuan, an increase of 3.3%.
The Caiwuwei commercial area received approximately 1.32 million visits, up about 20.37% year on year. Sales across the area totaled around 266 million yuan, a 7.26% increase.
The Second Shenzhen (Luohu) Intangible Cultural Heritage and Folk Art Culture Exhibition was held at Luohu Yitian Holiday Plaza during the holiday. Over its seven-day run, the event helped bring the mall’s foot traffic to 482,000 visits, with average daily traffic up about 40% year on year.
Drawing on interest in overseas remittance culture sparked by the hit film Dear You, the exhibition featured a Chaoshan folk parade, themed performances, a special exhibition on overseas remittances, hands-on intangible cultural heritage activities and a market selling Chaoshan-style goods. The program turned the commercial area into an open space for traditional arts and customs, attracting residents and tourists who came to experience the event.
“Tourism + gold shopping” also became a popular activity for visitors to Luohu. Many tourists visited Shuibei to explore its jewelry trade and shop for accessories. The market remained busy throughout the holiday, with some merchants so occupied that they had little time for lunch.
Merchants in Shuibei also reported more international visitors than usual, with diamond jewelry and high-quality gold jewelry proving particularly popular among overseas tourists. One Shuibei jewelry merchant said the business received around a dozen groups of foreign tourists each day during the holiday.
