The 2026 Shenzhen (Luohu) Life and Health Industry International Cooperation and Exchange Conference was held on the afternoon of Sept. 18 at the Shenzhen Going Global Center, bringing together more than 40 representatives from Belgium, Australia and other countries and regions, as well as domestic and international business organizations, industry associations, medical institutions, research institutes and leading companies.

The event was hosted by the Luohu Enterprise Service Center and organized by the Luohu Enterprise Going Global Service Platform and the Shenzhen Going Global Center.

In an opening speech, a representative of the Luohu Enterprise Service Center said the conference would help strengthen coordination among multiple stakeholders, promote the two-way flow of industrial resources between China and overseas markets, and support the integration of Luohu’s life and health industry into the global market.

The life and health sector is one of the four emerging industries included in Luohu’s “3+3+4” modern industrial system. The district has attracted high-level innovation platforms, including the China-Europe Innovation Center for Pharmaceuticals and Health Research, as well as a joint “one center and one base” initiative established by the Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology and Luohu. These platforms are intended to connect scientific research and industrial resources in China and abroad.

Luohu also has significant clinical resources. In 2015, Luohu People’s Hospital took the lead in establishing Shenzhen’s first compact urban medical consortium, Shenzhen Luohu Hospital Group. The healthcare reform model developed in Luohu has since been promoted nationwide and recommended by the World Health Organization.

Building on these advantages, the conference featured a project-presentation session highlighting cooperation needs from medical institutions, enterprises and overseas platforms.

During a separate enterprise roadshow, two Shenzhen companies shared their experience in internationalizing medical devices and carrying out global research, manufacturing and sales. Their presentations emphasized that, amid intensifying international competition, companies must build comprehensive strengths in technical standards, clinical value and localized services to move beyond simply exporting products and establish lasting global brands.

The conference also included a supply-and-demand matchmaking session. Dedicated negotiation tables were arranged for each organization presenting a project, allowing representatives from international institutions, industry associations, medical institutions and enterprises to discuss project details, industrial cooperation models and cross-border partnership opportunities.

While project information was presented on stage, one-on-one consultations took place simultaneously off stage.

The conference forms part of Luohu’s broader efforts to strengthen services for companies expanding overseas. Drawing on the district’s port facilities, clinical resources and innovation platforms, the Luohu Enterprise Going Global Service Platform aims to improve communication among international organizations, medical institutions and market-oriented enterprises.
