The Luohu OpenHarmony Ecosystem Application Innovation Center made its international debut at the 25th IOTE International Internet of Things Exhibition 2026 on August 26, highlighting the development of China’s independently developed and controllable open-source operating system ecosystem.

Held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an, the exhibition attracted more than 100,000 visitors and brought together leading companies and professionals from the global Internet of Things sector.

Representing the OpenHarmony ecosystem, the Luohu innovation center showcased the vitality of an industry network centered in Luohu and extending across China. Its participation marked the first time that the OpenHarmony ecosystem had been represented at an international expo.

From Luohu to the world

The IOTE International Internet of Things Exhibition is regarded as one of the most influential professional exhibitions in the global internet of things (IoT) industry. It serves as a platform for collaboration across the industry chain, technology demonstrations, and discussions on ecosystem partnerships.

For the Luohu OpenHarmony Ecosystem Application Innovation Center, the event marked an important step in expanding from domestic development to international engagement. For the broader OpenHarmony ecosystem, the appearance demonstrated growing global recognition of its unified application framework, standardized API interfaces, and interconnected technology foundation.

The innovation center was jointly established by the Luohu district government, the OpenAtom Foundation, and Huawei-related firms. It operates according to the principles of open source, openness, co-construction, and sharing.

The center aims to connect the entire industry chain, from chips and operating systems to terminals, applications, and practical use cases. It also seeks to accelerate the transition of lightweight smart devices from individual pilot projects to large-scale deployment, while addressing the fragmented application ecosystems that have long affected the IoT industry.

National partners form OpenHarmony exhibition team

Open integration was a key feature of the exhibition area. Alongside leading companies from Luohu, the innovation center brought together ecosystem partners from across China to form a large OpenHarmony lightweight smart ecosystem showcase.

The participating companies represented multiple regions, including South China, North China, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Together, they demonstrated the breadth of the OpenHarmony industry chain, covering chip design, software development, complete-device manufacturing, and scenario-based solutions.

Their participation also highlighted OpenHarmony’s ability to support the principle of “develop once, deploy across multiple devices,” while underscoring the cohesion of the ecosystem built around the Luohu Innovation Center.

Luohu develops OpenHarmony industry cluster

In recent years, Luohu has worked to improve its business environment and strengthen its focus on strategic emerging industries. Building on its established strengths in commerce, gold and jewelry, and cultural tourism, the district is seeking to attract chip manufacturers, solution developers, device manufacturers, scenario-solution providers, and ecosystem service companies.

The goal is to promote the large-scale adoption of OpenHarmony across sectors such as smart homes, intelligent mobility, industrial control, and AI-enabled toys.

The innovation center has established a service system covering technical evaluation, research and development support, supply-chain manufacturing, government and enterprise scenario deployment, and market promotion. It also provides testing and certification, technical consulting, policy application assistance, and business matchmaking services to lower the barriers for companies entering the ecosystem.

The center’s stated objective is to help ecosystem partners accelerate the promotion and commercialization of their products.

It has also launched the regional industry brand “Luokaihong,” with the goal of developing Luohu into a nationally recognized OpenHarmony industry hub. The center said it welcomes more companies to establish a presence in Luohu and work together to build an open, independent, and controllable OpenHarmony ecosystem.
