Luohu has launched the third round of its “Shenzhen Invites • Enjoy Luohu” dining voucher campaign, offering inbound tourists discounts of up to 150 yuan (US$22.24) during the peak summer travel season.
The campaign, launched August 11 in partnership with Alipay+, Ant International’s cross-border payment gateway, also marked the opening of the fourth cross-border consumption carnival. It will run through November 29 and cover dining, shopping, leisure and entertainment across the district.
By combining government-funded dining subsidies, platform-exclusive promotions and discounts from major commercial areas, Luohu aims to provide overseas visitors with a more convenient cross-border spending experience.
Eight-voucher tiers available daily
As a major consumption hub connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Luohu’s related government agencies have partnered with merchants in the district’s commercial areas including Dongmen, Shuibei, Sungang, Renmin South Road and Caiwuwei to make shopping and dining more affordable for inbound tourists.
The vouchers are available daily on the Alipay+ platform on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. They are offered in eight tiers, ranging from 5 yuan off purchases of 50 yuan or more to 150 yuan off purchases of 1,500 yuan or more.
The offers are designed to accommodate a variety of spending scenarios, from individual meals to group dining. Visitors can access them through overseas e-wallets including AlipayHK, MPay, Kakao Pay, Toss Pay, TNG eWallet, truemoney, GCash and MoMo.
Users can claim the vouchers by scanning offline QR codes at participating businesses or by entering the campaign page through the cross-border section of their e-wallets. Each user may claim one voucher from each tier per day, and the vouchers can be redeemed immediately at participating restaurants and businesses throughout Luohu.
Additional digital yuan and commercial discounts
During the campaign, users of China Construction Bank’s digital yuan services can receive additional benefits. First-time e-wallet users can obtain a 15 yuan spending red packet, while existing users can receive an instant 10 yuan discount on their first payment of 10.01 yuan or more.
These benefits can be used together with the government-issued vouchers, helping further reduce dining and shopping expenses for cross-border visitors.
The campaign has also brought together several major commercial areas to launch a “108 yuan Super Value Bundle,” featuring discounts on dining, retail and entertainment. The package is available at popular shopping centers including CR 1234space, Sun Department Store, Yitian Holiday Plaza (Luohu) and KK Mall, allowing visitors to combine multiple offers across different consumption scenarios.
Dongmen offers discounts of up to 20%
The Dongmen Pedestrian Street, one of Shenzhen’s historic and cultural landmarks, has introduced additional cross-border promotions as part of the campaign.
Hundreds of street-side merchants are offering discounts of between 10% and 20% on products ranging from souvenirs and local snacks to fashion goods. The promotions are available throughout the day, covering both daytime shopping and evening visits to the area’s food and nightlife venues.
The initiative is intended to give visitors more opportunities to experience the historic atmosphere of the century-old commercial street while enjoying discounted purchases.
Luohu upgrades payment services
To improve the shopping experience for international visitors, Luohu has upgraded its payment infrastructure across the area this year.
Visitors can use the supported overseas e-wallets at major commercial districts as well as many small street-side businesses. Most participating outlets now display multilingual payment signs, allowing travelers to complete voucher collection, payment and redemption through a streamlined process.
The upgraded services are designed to make it possible for overseas visitors to “explore Luohu with just one phone.”
Through the campaign, Luohu is inviting international travelers to sample local cuisine, shop for popular products and explore historic streets while experiencing the convenience of cross-border consumption in Shenzhen and the distinctive character of Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration.
