No. 79 Fishing Boat, a renowned Luohu-based seafood chain, officially started soft operations of its first national flagship restaurant July 9.
Located in the Sungang area of Luohu District, the massive new venue marks a significant milestone for the brand as it seeks to become a premier culinary landmark within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Since its launch in 2015, No. 79 Fishing Boat has expanded to 22 locations across Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The decision to anchor its flagship in Luohu’s HALO Plaza (Phase II) was driven by the district’s mature commercial ecosystem, dual-metro accessibility, and a favorable regulatory environment for high-quality catering, according to the brand’s executives.
A "cruise ship" dining experience
Spanning nearly 5,000 square meters across two floors, the flagship offers a striking "cruise ship cabin" aesthetic. The interior features:
● Architectural grandeur: A 7.9-meter double-height ceiling that allows natural light to flood the space, mimicking a seaside cruise atmosphere.
● Capacity: 579 dining seats and 26 private rooms, including a grand suite capable of hosting more than 40 guests.
● Amenities: Thoughtful additions such as a dedicated baby care room to accommodate families, alongside corporate and social gatherings.

"Selling seafood, not seawater"
The brand distinguishes itself through a rigorous "end-to-end" supply chain. By managing its own fishing operations and exclusive farming bases — ranging from Taishan oysters to Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs — the restaurant ensures direct sourcing of more than 100 varieties of live seafood.
Transparency is a core tenet of the flagship’s service. Staff follow a strict protocol of shaking off excess water three times before weighing seafood to ensure customers pay only for the product. Furthermore, an open kitchen layout allows diners to witness the entire process from the tank to the dinner plate.

Culinary highlights: tradition meets innovation
The flagship menu showcases the height of Cantonese culinary craftsmanship with several signature dishes:
● Uncle Threee’s Grilled Spotted Prawn: A table staple known for its crispy shell and succulent, sweet meat.
● Passion Fruit Abalone: An original creation serving abalone in a passion fruit shell, using the fruit’s acidity to highlight the seafood's texture.
● Typhoon Shelter Fried Stone Crab: A classic dish featuring firm crab meat and rich "wok hei" (breath of the wok).
Grand opening and location
To celebrate the soft opening, the restaurant offered a 21% discount on all seafood from July 9 to 11.
Located at Phase II of HALO Plaza in the Sungang Subdistrict, the flagship is easily accessible via Yuanling Station (Metro Line 9) or Hongling North Station (Metro lines 7 and 9).
The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 to 22:30, inviting both locals and tourists to experience what it hopes will become the gold standard for seafood in Shenzhen.
