China’s 1st HarmonyOS-powered smart parking system debuts in Luohu

China’s first batch of HarmonyOS-powered smart parking demonstration projects was officially launched in Shenzhen’s Luohu District during the Huawei Developer Conference 2026 held June 13.
Two Luohu landmark commercial centers, The MixC and the Shenzhen Tianhe City, have become the nation's first to implement this intelligent ecosystem, marking a new milestone in China's "smart city" evolution.
The new system utilizes HarmonyOS’ "atomic services" — lightweight, installation-free apps — to transform the parking experience from "people searching for services" to "services finding people." Key features of the system include:
● Seamless access: Drivers can manage parking, navigation, and payments via lock-screen cards or voice commands without downloading separate apps.
● Intelligent navigation: Deep integration with Huawei Petal Maps allows for indoor mapping and "reverse car-finding," solving the common struggle of locating parked vehicles in large garages.
● Low-cost integration: Using "fusion codes," parking lots can adopt the HarmonyOS system using existing QR code infrastructure, eliminating the need for expensive hardware retrofitting.
● Connected ecosystem: Beyond parking, the new system integrates mall navigation, membership rewards, and proactive AI suggestions via the "Xiaoyi" assistant.
HarmonyOS, Hongmeng in Chinese, is Huawei Technologies Co.’s distributed operating system designed to provide a seamless experience across multiple devices. Since the United States restricted Huawei’s access to Google’s Android services in 2019, the Shenzhen-based tech giant has aggressively developed HarmonyOS to become a major global competitor.
Moving beyond smartphones, HarmonyOS now powers everything from cars to industrial equipment, aiming to create an "Internet of Everything." This smart parking project represents a key step in HarmonyOS’ push to integrate deeply into urban infrastructure and public services.
Luohu has positioned itself as a primary testing ground for Huawei’s ecosystem. Prior to the smart parking project launch, the district has successfully deployed HarmonyOS solutions in government service centers, schools, and libraries. By adding smart mobility to this list, Luohu aims to create a replicable "urban template" for digital transformation.
The project is scheduled to cover the entire Shenzhen by August this year and expand nationwide by December, driving the integration of commercial districts, public services, and smart mobility across China.
