Luohu holds event to mark National Day for Helping Persons with Disabilities

Luohu District held a themed event on May 15 to mark the 36th National Day for Helping Persons with Disabilities, which fell on May 17 this year. The event also featured Shenzhen's second Wheelchair Music Festival and the seventh "Shenzhen Lions Integration Cup" series of cultural and sports activities.
Organized by the Luohu District Disabled Persons' Federation, the Shenzhen Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, and the Shenzhen Lions Club, the event brought together disability-support groups from across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The program featured 22 performances in two parts, presenting dances, music, recitations and ensemble performances by people with disabilities and volunteers. The performances highlighted resilience, confidence and the spirit of inclusion.
At the event, experts from Luohu Hospital Group introduced key knowledge on disability prevention and shared information on related service resources in Guangdong. The Luohu District Disabled Persons' Federation also signed public welfare cooperation agreements with the Shenzhen Society for Brain Science and Beijing East & West Law Firm's Shenzhen office. The partnerships will provide more professional support for people with disabilities in areas such as rehabilitation research and legal assistance.
A number of organizations, companies and individuals were also recognized for their long-term contributions to disability-support work.
A charity market held alongside the event attracted many visitors. Its 25 booths covered assistive technology products, charity sales and policy consultation. Visitors tried out smart assistive devices, bought handmade products made by people with disabilities from rehabilitation centers, and received medical consultation and legal advice on issues such as accessibility, employment rights and public interest litigation.
The event aimed to promote greater public awareness, improve services for people with disabilities, and foster a more inclusive community in Luohu.
