Luohu launches nation's first HarmonyOS-powered public library

Luohu Library in Shenzhen has completed a full HarmonyOS adaptation of its WeChat public service ecosystem, becoming China's first HarmonyOS-powered public library and a landmark application of the Harmony ecosystem in the cultural and public services sector.
The upgrade covers key service modules including the library's WeChat service hall, mobile book-borrowing system, digital human librarian and self-service devices, offering users a seamless smart reading experience through a single mobile interface.
Without downloading additional apps, HarmonyOS users can now access the full borrowing process via smartphone — from catalog searches and online inquiries to offline borrowing services — integrating digital convenience with public reading services.
The upgraded system also adopts a real-name authentication mechanism, enabling one-stop access to essential library services while safeguarding user information security and eliminating the need to switch between multiple platforms.
As the country's first HarmonyOS library, the project marks a key extension of Luohu's Harmony ecosystem from government and public service applications into the cultural sector. It follows a series of pioneering local applications, including a HarmonyOS government service center, a HarmonyOS women and children's hospital, and a HarmonyOS-powered "electronic sentinel" water management system.
The initiative underscores Luohu's broader push to expand HarmonyOS applications in public services and offers a model for the digital transformation of libraries nationwide.
