Luohu launches citywide reading week with 68 events

Luohu district in Shenzhen has launched its first "Reading Week for All" from April 20 to 26, bringing together government departments, schools, and kindergartens to promote a culture of reading through a diverse lineup of 68 themed activities.
The weeklong program features an array of events, from poetry gatherings and family reading sessions to livestreamed programs and outdoor reading experiences, creating what organizers describe as an immersive "city of books" atmosphere.
A major highlight will be the third Shenzhen Wutong Mountain Poetry Festival, held from April 24 to 26. Aiming to establish Wutong Mountain as a signature literary landmark, the festival centers on poetry while integrating cultural, commercial, and tourism elements, presenting a vivid blend of mountain, sea, and urban life through literary expression.
Under the theme "Reading Luohu, Fragrance in Every Home," the Luohu Library has curated its own program structured around four sections: "Reading: Setting Sail," "Reading: Heritage," "Reading: Growth," and "Reading: Sharing." The lineup includes eight themed series and 17 individual activities designed to engage readers of all ages.
The district library will also join 37 community reading hubs in a synchronized "Half-Hour Reading" initiative across Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, Guangxi, and Hainan, encouraging residents to read together both online and offline.
Meanwhile, the popular Shenzhen Tent Reading Marathon, a parent-child reading event, will return to the district library, offering families an interactive experience that blends leisure, learning, and shared reading time.
