Shenzhen Children's Park to Reopen in June with Upgraded Smart Parking Facility

Shenzhen Children's Park is slated to reopen in June, unveiling a major renovation that includes the city's first underground double‑level AGV smart parking garage. The upgrade is expected to ease parking pressure in the surrounding Dongmen commercial area and significantly enhance the visitor experience.
Launched in August 2025, the project is the first of its kind in Guangdong Province. The revamped North Gate parking facility adopts an integrated "car hall + lift + AGV robot" system, eliminating the need for traditional driving lanes. After drivers leave their vehicles in the designated car hall, AGV robots automatically handle alignment, lifting, transport, storage, and retrieval.
According to Zhang Jianqiao, project lead at the Luohu District Urban Management Comprehensive Service Center, the new facility will offer 440 smart parking spaces, boosting the area's parking capacity by 50%. The upgrade, he noted, will not only improve the park-going experience but also help divert parking demand from the busy Dongmen business district.
The fully underground, space‑efficient design reduces excavation depth and construction costs compared with conventional garages. The smart layout increases parking-space utilization by 258% and overall spatial efficiency by 300%, all while preserving the park's natural landscape. The project is expected to serve as a model for revitalizing limited urban space in older districts.
