Liantang Port hits record daily crossings as Hong Kong experts suggest improvements

Liantang Port in Shenzhen recorded a new high in daily passenger traffic, handling over 120,000 crossings in a single day for the first time.
On March 14, about 122,000 inbound and outbound passengers were processed, including more than 90,000 from Hong Kong and Macao and over 30,000 from the Chinese mainland, according to local border authorities.
During a recent visit, a group of Hong Kong professionals from sectors such as planning, transport and architecture conducted on-site research and offered practical suggestions to improve clearance efficiency and passenger experience.
The group reviewed passenger flow management, freight clearance, and transport connections around the port. They proposed measures such as smarter guidance systems based on real-time passenger flows and enhanced cross-border transport links to improve last-mile connectivity.
Local officials said the initiative aims to draw on Hong Kong expertise to further improve cross-border mobility and support the development of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong port economic belt.
