Shenzhen expands inbound duty-free shopping with new port stores

China has announced a new round of measures to expand inbound duty-free shopping at major ports of entry, further strengthening the country's duty-free retail network.
The measures were outlined in a joint notice on the establishment and optimization of inbound duty-free shops nationwide. According to the newly released list, two newly approved inbound duty-free shops will be located in Shenzhen—at Shenzhen Bay Port and Liantang Port. This marks a further upgrade of Shenzhen's role as a key gateway for inbound travelers.
In addition, several existing inbound duty-free shops in Shenzhen will continue operating, including those at Luohu Port, Huanggang Port, Wenjindu Port, Shekou Cruise Center, and Shenzhen Airport Fuyong Ferry Terminal, forming a relatively complete inbound duty-free network across the city’s major land, sea, and air gateways.
The notice also specifies that one new inbound duty-free shop will be established at each of 41 ports nationwide, including Wuhan Tianhe International Airport. This will significantly increase the total number of inbound duty-free shops in China and broaden their geographic coverage.
At the same time, adjustments and optimizations will be made to certain existing duty-free shops whose operating contracts are nearing expiration or whose port passenger functions have changed, ensuring that inbound duty-free retail better aligns with actual passenger flows and travel patterns.
The latest expansion reflects China's continued efforts to improve the inbound consumption environment and enhance the convenience and attractiveness of entry ports for international travelers.
