Luohu tourism booms during New Year holiday

Luohu District kicked off 2026 with a vibrant start, witnessing a surge in tourism and consumption during the three-day New Year holiday. The district welcomed over 560,000 visitors, marking a 9.8% increase year-on-year, while tourism revenue hit nearly 380 million yuan, up 12.6%.
From bustling pop-culture events to serene nature spots and high-tech transport, the holiday festivities showcased the vitality of Shenzhen's historic district.
The Dongmen Pedestrian Street transformed into a hub for Guochao (China-chic) and ACG (Anime, Comic, and Games) culture, attracting a staggering 1.49 million visits—a 109.86% jump compared to last year.
Young visitors flocked to the New White Horse market for cosplay parades and anime concerts, while the 2026 Luohu District Street Dance Open energized the streets, boosting daily footfall in the area by approximately 65%.
The festive atmosphere extended to the Shenye Taifu Plaza with the "Sound of Luohu" music party and the newly opened "Kingway Beer Plaza 1985," which has quickly emerged as a new nightlife landmark featuring craft beer and live performances.
Beyond the energetic crowds, Luohu's cultural and natural attractions offered a relaxing retreat. The newly launched Luohu District Library and Youth Palace received nearly 10,000 visitors in just three days, impressing citizens with smart amenities like the automated book sorting system.
Nature lovers gathered at Jinhu Park for fishing competitions and at Fairy Lake Botanical Garden to admire the scenic bald cypress trees, creating a picture of leisure and "slow life" amidst the city.
The holiday also highlighted Luohu's pivotal role in cross-border integration and technological innovation. The Luohu Port recorded over 660,000 entry and exit trips, reflecting close ties between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Shoppers crowded the Shuibei jewelry hub, creating a "gold rush" with robust sales.
Meanwhile, the district's first L4 autonomous bus line, the B888, garnered significant attention. Connecting the port to major shopping destinations, the smart bus provided a futuristic travel experience that particularly impressed Hong Kong tourists visiting for the holiday.
