Luohu North Station TOD project set for completion by end of 2028

The transit-oriented development (TOD) project at Luohu North Station on the Shenzhen-Shantou high-speed railway is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. As a key rail hub in Shenzhen's central urban area, the station is expected to substantially enhance regional connectivity, with trains operating at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour and supporting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's goal of half-hour high-speed rail interconnectivity.
Designed as an integrated underground transport hub with above-ground urban development, the project aims to turn potential "urban challenges" into "urban opportunities." Through a highly integrated, mixed-use model, the TOD project will bring together transportation, industry, commerce, culture and ecological functions, creating a multifunctional complex that serves as a transport hub, industrial engine, commercial center, cultural venue and eco-friendly community. It is also envisioned as a pilot for new approaches to comprehensive hub development in central urban districts.
The above-ground development will cover a site area of about 45,000 square meters and is planned as innovation-oriented industrial and commercial space under a "lease-only, no-sale" model. With a total floor area of approximately 105,500 square meters, the development is designed to directly support surrounding industries and innovation-driven enterprises.
The station's spatial layout has been carefully planned based on passenger flow density and travel behavior. The eastern section, adjacent to the metro transfer core, will feature a plaza and an eco-sports park to facilitate the rapid dispersal of large passenger volumes. The central area will be anchored by a sunken plaza envisioned as a "city living room," around which office and commercial spaces will be arranged. The western section will accommodate functions such as a convention and exhibition center and art galleries.
Once completed, the project is expected to reshape daily mobility and urban experiences. Business travelers will be able to move seamlessly between high-speed rail, offices and meeting venues, significantly reducing geographical and time constraints on cross-city collaboration. Local residents will gain access to high-quality cultural and artistic resources, while transit passengers will be able to use short travel intervals to visit exhibitions or engage in fitness activities, integrating transport, work and leisure within a single urban node.
