Shenzhen-Shanwei high-speed railway moves closer to completion

Construction of Luohu North Station officially began Sept. 30, marking another milestone in Shenzhen's expanding high-speed rail network. At the same time, the city's largest railway hub — the Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub — entered the main structure construction stage, signaling that the Shenzhen-Shanwei high-speed railway (HSR) is moving closer to completion.
The Luohu North Station project, with a total investment of 2.343 billion yuan, is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2027. The civil structure of the Xili hub is scheduled for completion by August 2027.
Once operational, the Xili Comprehensive Transportation Hub will integrate four high-speed railways — the Ganzhou-Shenzhen HSR, Shenzhen-Maoming Railway, Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway, and Shenzhen-Zhuhai HSR — along with two intercity railways and four metro lines, forming a multi-level transport network.
The Shenzhen-Shanwei HSR, a key project under the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's infrastructure connectivity plan, is also an essential part of the "five railways and five expressways" external transport system for the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone.
Spanning 125.5 kilometers, the railway begins at Xili Station in Shenzhen and passes through Nanshan, Longhua, Futian, Luohu, Longgang, and Pingshan districts, then through Huizhou's Huiyang and Huidong districts before reaching Shenshan Station in the cooperation zone.
Once completed, the line will link four major transport hubs — Xili, Luohu North, Pingshan, and Shenshan — cutting travel time from Shenzhen to the cooperation zone from 47 minutes to just 30. It will also allow one-hour access to eastern Guangdong cities, two-hour access to the West Coast Economic Zone, and five-hour access to the Yangtze River Delta.
