Luohu sees tourism and consumption boom during National Day holiday

Luohu district experienced a strong rebound in tourism and consumption during the National Day holiday, welcoming 1.41 million visitors and generating 1.54 billion yuan in tourism revenue — both up more than 15% year on year.
From Oct. 1 to 7, the Luohu, Wenjindu, and Liantang ports handled a total of 2.13 million cross-border travelers. Liantang Port reported a 13% year-on-year increase, with daily traffic peaking at nearly 100,000 passengers.
Thanks to China's expanding visa-free "circle of friends," optimized tax refund policies, and enhanced payment and transportation services, inbound tourism continued to surge. Around 450,000 foreign visitors arrived during the period, a 32% increase from last year, while the number of overnight foreign tourists jumped 72%.
Between Oct. 1 and 8, Luohu's 13 major shopping complexes recorded a combined footfall of 6.1 million, up nearly 10% year on year, reflecting the district's growing appeal as a consumption hub.
Ahead of the holiday, the 2025 Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Mid-Autumn Food Festival launched simultaneously at Dongmen Old Street in Shenzhen, Temple Street in Hong Kong, and Rua do Cunha in Macao. The three historic streets jointly presented an immersive carnival of cuisine, folk customs, art, and technology, becoming one of the most popular destinations during the break.
Throughout the festival, the three streets attracted over one million visitors daily. The "Travel in Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Pass" mini program facilitated cross-border promotions among more than 300 merchants. On the opening day, a joint livestream involving over 20 media outlets across the country drew more than 100,000 online views.
