Luohu launches cross-border tourism route and driverless shuttle buses

On Aug. 26, marking the 45th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, Luohu district unveiled two new smart mobility services: the Luohu Cross-Border Culture and Tourism Consumption Route and a fleet of driverless shuttle buses. Together, the initiatives aim to make cross-border travel and urban shopping more convenient for residents and visitors, while injecting new momentum into the integration of smart transport with cultural, commercial, and tourism development across the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
The cross-border tourism route is a joint effort that blends market-driven operations, government support, and business participation. It represents an innovative step to deepen Shenzhen–Hong Kong integration by enhancing both infrastructure connectivity and lifestyle connectivity.
The route begins at Liantang Port and, on the Shenzhen side, connects to popular destinations including Yitian Holiday World, Dongmen Pedestrian Street, and The MixC. On the Hong Kong side, it links directly to major shopping and leisure hubs such as Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, Sha Tin, Kwun Tong, and Diamond Hill.
At the same time, Luohu introduced its autonomous shuttle service, designated Route B888. The service currently operates three L4-level driverless minibuses that require no human intervention, independently evaluating road conditions and making driving decisions — essentially functioning like seasoned drivers.
The B888 line departs from Luohu Port and stops at Shenzhen International Trade Center, Diwang Commercial Complex, Shenzhen Grand Theater, and The MixC, connecting five of Luohu’s signature shopping and leisure districts — Renmin South, Dongmen, Caiwuwei, Sungang, and Shuibei. The route also passes several of the district’s well-known landmarks, offering passengers a convenient way to explore both historic and modern attractions.
Looking ahead, Luohu plans to further expand its cross-border routes and smart mobility applications, ensuring that residents and visitors on both sides of the border enjoy faster, smarter, and more diverse point-to-point travel experiences.
