Luohu Port hits record with 297,000 daily crossings


Luohu Port set a new post-pandemic record on July 13, with 297,000 inbound and outbound travelers in a single day. In the first half of 2025, the port handled over 33.7 million passenger movements, up 11.7% year on year. Foreign visitor numbers surged 48%, driven by Shenzhen’s 144-hour visa-free transit policy, which has attracted more than 5,200 tour groupsso far this year.
As Shenzhen’s busiest land checkpoint and a key hub between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Luohu Port has ramped up efforts to manage heavy traffic. Border inspection authorities have introduced a tour group pre-notification systemand flexible staff deployment to ease peak-time pressure.
To better serve international travelers, a multilingual volunteer teamhas been stationed at the port since August 2024, offering guidance in seven languagesincluding English, French, Russian, Japanese, and German. They have assisted over 23 million travelersto date.
Meanwhile, hardware upgrades are underway, including enhanced X-ray channels and the upcoming One-Stop Service Center. The new facility will combine travel information, cultural displays, and consultation services to create a seamless experience for visitors.
