Shenzhen’s Qingshuihe housing renovation project makes headway

On June 24, Shenzhen’s key shantytown renovation project in the Qingshuihe area reported notable construction progress.
Project manager Li Hui said the development is currently in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) integration and interior finishing phase. The next steps will focus on accelerating work on exterior wall coatings, curtain wall installation, minor municipal infrastructure, and public area decoration to further advance the overall schedule.
The large-scale redevelopment began full demolition on April 13, 2021. Covering a demolition area of approximately 54,000 square meters and a construction land area of about 26,000 square meters, the project aims to significantly improve housing conditions and the urban environment. It will resettle residents from six former residential communities, benefiting more than 1,700 households.
The project comprises five residential towers, each with three underground levels and 48 floors above ground. It also includes comprehensive supporting facilities such as a nine-class kindergarten and a 24-class primary school, expected to provide over 1,300 student places. Additional public amenities include a day-care center for the elderly, a community healthcare center, and a suspended parking garage.
Li added that the project offers a range of apartment layouts to meet diverse needs. Upon completion, it will provide more than 1,800 resettlement housing units and over 200 talent housing units. The development is expected to significantly enhance housing quality in the Qingshuihe area and play a key role in driving forward the construction of the Qingshuihe Headquarters New City.
