Luohu model citizens vow to work harder to make bigger contribution to Shenzhen
Shenzhen was not built in one day. Over the past 40 years, generations of pioneers, trailblazers, dream chasers, and numerous others have offered their sweat and brainpower.
On Oct. 16, the Shenzhen municipal government released a list of 40 people, commending their varied contributions to the city.
Sun Xizhuo, director of the Luohu Hospital Group and a mastermind of Luohu’s medical care reform, said that his name appearing on the list shows the city’s approval of Luohu’s medical care reform.
The reform of medical care makes it easier for local residents to see a doctor, and medical care insurance now covers more people.
The mode of the reform has been introduced in other parts of the country.
Sun said that the reform should, in the future, raise people’s awareness of the importance of keeping fit and living a healthy life and should also increase the use of advanced medical care technologies.
“My honor should be attributed to the Shenzhen Spirit, featuring ‘inclusiveness, openness, bravery and pioneering,’ as well as the government’s input and the people’s support,” Sun added.
Over the past five years, 49.25% of medical treatments in Luohu were conducted by community rehabilitation centers. The morbidity of epidemics, strokes and malignant tumors has dropped continuously.
Wu Fenghua, founder of the Tongtaifu Jewelry, said: “I am honored to be on the list.”
Wu is dedicated to exploring ways to promote Shenzhen’s jewelry industry around the world.
Over the past 20 years, Tongtaifu has developed an influential high-end custom-made jewelry brand known for its original design.
“We should introduce foreign design resources, while adhering to China’s cultural tradition, showcasing the influence of Chinese design and its competitiveness,” said Wu.
He insists China’s jewelry industry must be rooted in Chinese culture, have an outlook on the whole world, and merge advanced technologies, designs and artistic forms.
“The 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is a new starting point for us to advance the further development of China’s jewelry industry,” Wu said.
Jiang Kairu, a lyricist and a member of the Luohu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said: “I am proud to attend the 40th anniversary gathering.”
Jiang’s three masterpieces — Story of the Spring, Walking into the New Era, and Chinese Dream — are regarded as a trilogy of the new era of the country.
Jiang said that many participants at the gathering had made great contributions in their respective fields, and he felt his contribution was not of the same standard.
“I need to work harder to come up with better works to reflect the spirits of the times and the people’s wishes,” Jiang said.
He is working on a new song to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Shenzhen SEZ.
