Shenzhen airport completes flight inspection for third runway
On August 3, a verification aircraft bearing the registration B-129X landed smoothly at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, marking the successful completion of a 20-day flight inspection for the airport’s third runway. The inspection paves the way for upcoming project acceptance, trial flights, and full commissioning later this year.
Flight inspection is a critical prerequisite for newly built runways. Using aircraft equipped with specialized instruments, inspectors test and verify the performance of key navigation and safety systems to ensure operational readiness.
As a national-level project and key provincial infrastructure, the third runway measures 3,600 meters in length and 45 meters in width, and is capable of accommodating various large passenger aircraft.
Next, Shenzhen airport will accelerate work on final acceptance, trial operations, and regulatory approvals, with plans to put the runway into operation by the end of the year. Once launched, the project will significantly enhance the airport’s overall capacity and strengthen its position as an international aviation hub. It will also support Shenzhen’s efforts to become a globally influential economic center and a modern international metropolis.
