Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum to open on May 1
The Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum is set to officially open to the public on May 1. With the theme "Digital Civilization, Innovation for the Future," the museum places communication technology at the core of its exhibitions and aspires to become the world’s first science museum built around this concept of digital civilization.
As a new landmark for science education and cultural tourism in Shenzhen, the museum blends scientific inquiry with the city's distinct urban identity. It embraces a cross-disciplinary approach, using themed exhibit clusters and breaking away from conventional academic boundaries. Through immersive, scenario-driven displays, it aims to deliver an engaging experience that fuses science, art and culture.
The museum houses four permanent exhibition halls featuring a total of 950 innovative exhibits — placing it among the top science museums in China in terms of exhibit volume.
The first floor hosts the "Technology and Film Experience Zone," which showcases the evolution of moving images through the lens of digital innovation. On the second floor, the "Hello, World!" exhibit guides visitors into the realm of digital civilization. The third floor's "Better Life" hall highlights how large-scale AI models and humanoid robots are transforming everyday life in areas such as transportation, communities, and homes. The fourth floor, titled "Smart Industry," delves into the digital revolution in industrial production, spotlighting advances in new materials, drug development, smart logistics, and next-generation “lighthouse factories.”
