Luohu's Caiwuwei ranked among China's top 100 business districts
The 2025 China Business District Competitiveness Top 100 Index was released on Dec. 5 at the Culture–Business–Tourism sub-forum of the Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference, with seven Shenzhen commercial districts making the list. Among them is Luohu's historic Caiwuwei district, recognized for its strong commercial vitality and growth potential.
Business districts serve as key platforms for consumption upgrading and as core engines of urban commercial development. This year, the index incorporated updated evaluation indicators, including density, commercial renewal and brand upgrading, to provide a more comprehensive reflection of business district competitiveness.
A global center of innovation, Shenzhen ranked second nationwide in the number of districts included. Its seven listed districts, namely Futian CBD, Bao'an Center, Houhai, Caiwuwei, Longgang Dayun, Longhua International and Huaqiangbei, demonstrated excellence in commercial diversity, first-launch economy, technological retail experiences and culture–tourism integration, underscoring the city's commercial dynamism.
With a history of more than 600 years, Caiwuwei was once one of Shenzhen's earliest villages. Today it has evolved into one of the city's most vibrant commercial hubs, home to major shopping centers, office towers, hotels and tourist attractions that draw visitors and business travelers from across China and abroad.
Adjacent to the Luohu, Wenjindu and Liantang ports, Caiwuwei benefits from border-crossing volumes that reach up to 250,000 people per day. This flow of people, goods, capital and information reinforces its role as an international commercial gateway. The district continues to upgrade payment, retail and transport services to foster a more convenient and globalized consumption environment.
Since the beginning of the year, Caiwuwei has hosted nearly 20 product debuts and first-launch events. At its core is The MixC Shenzhen, which has welcomed more than 200 new stores over the past three years, covering luxury brands, outdoor sports and gold and jewelry retailers, further solidifying Caiwuwei's position as one of Shenzhen's premier shopping destinations.
