Cross-border green innovation project achieves major milestone
The "Green & Sustainable Open Lab" — co-initiated three years ago by Shui On Xintiandi and the HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Institute — has reached a significant milestone. The lab-supported project "Kelodo Green Materials: Next-Generation Thermal Insulation Film" has achieved large-scale commercial application in Shanghai.
Installed across more than 1,800 square meters, the new nano-insulation film maintains 70%–75% visible light transmittance while blocking 80%–95% of near-infrared radiation, addressing the long-standing challenge of combining transparency with effective heat insulation. Priced at only two-thirds of mainstream brands, the material is suited for high-end office buildings, hotels and other commercial environments.
Looking ahead, Shui On's innovation platform InnoSpace GBA and its Green Future Innovation Network will continue to bring together leading enterprises, academic institutions, investment organizations and startups from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Shanghai. The initiative aims to promote resource sharing and collaboration, accelerate the application of innovative technologies in future-city scenarios and support green, sustainable urban development.
