Shenzhen ranks 2nd in 2025 China Urban Development Index
The first China Urban Comprehensive Development Index Report (2025) was released recently, showing that Shenzhen ranked second nationwide in overall performance.
According to the report, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai secured the top three positions. Hangzhou, Jinan, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, and Wuhan also made the top ten, reflecting strong progress in high-quality and sustainable urban development across multiple dimensions.
In terms of innovation, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai led the country, demonstrating outstanding achievements in technological creativity and results transformation.
For ecological and livability indicators, Guiyang, Changsha, and Shenzhen stood out for their clean water quality and pleasant living environments, highlighting their growing ecological advantages.
Meanwhile, Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan excelled in smart city development. The widespread adoption of "one-stop online government services" and steady expansion of 5G infrastructure have made digital governance more efficient and public services more accessible, driving cities toward smarter, more precise management.
