Shenzhen sees tourism boom during National Day holiday
Shenzhen recorded robust tourism growth during this year's National Day holiday, welcoming 9.2 million visitors — up 12.4% from the same period in 2024 — according to the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports.
Tourism revenue reached 8.94 billion yuan (about $1.25 billion), a year-on-year increase of 17.6%. A total of 91,000 foreign visitors entered the city during the weeklong holiday, a surge of 145.2%.
Data from Trip.com showed that travel orders to Shenzhen on the first day of the holiday rose 39% year-on-year.
From Oct. 1 to 6, the number of foreign travelers arriving via Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport increased by 50%, with visa-free entries soaring 205% — underscoring the city's growing international appeal and the positive impact of China’s expanded visa-free policies.
