Shenzhen named ‘Model City for Quality Consumption’
Shenzhen was recently recognized as a “Model City for Quality Consumption” in the Better Life City Night data release, part of the 2024 Better Life Survey. The honor, shared with Chengdu, Wuhan and Dalian, highlights Shenzhen’s vibrant consumer environment and innovative urban vitality.
The award is a well-earned recognition, particularly in light of the 2025 Shenzhen New Consumption Season, held from March to May. The campaign featured more than 450 engaging events, covering cutting-edge trends such as product debuts, trade-in promotions, and AI-powered retail experiences. These initiatives have underscored Shenzhen’s pioneering role in cultivating a dynamic, diverse and trend-setting consumption landscape.
Jointly launched in 2006 by China Media Group (CMG), the National Bureau of Statistics, China Post, and Peking University’s National School of Development, the Better Life Survey has been conducted annually for 19 years. It provides key insights into public perceptions of quality of life across China.
