2025 Shenzhen Lotus Festival to open at Honghu Park
The 2025 Shenzhen Lotus Festival will open on June 12 and run through July 6 at Honghu Park. As one of the city’s most anticipated seasonal events, the festival will offer a rich mix of lotus viewing, cultural experiences, artistic displays, tech innovation, and refreshed consumer activities.
Honghu Park, with over three decades of lotus cultivation history, has become a landmark for lotus lovers. It is home to the largest urban lotus pond in Shenzhen, spanning 170,000 square meters, with over one million lotus flowers expected to bloom during peak season.
As South China’s leading lotus-themed garden, it combines scientific conservation, public education, and landscape design. The park features more than 700 lotus varieties, including rare types from China, Thailand, Vietnam, the United States, and even “space lotus” and ancient lotus grown from thousand-year-old seeds.
Following a major renovation, Honghu Park has reopened with upgraded facilities and a renewed visitor experience. A new lakeside boardwalk and waterfront platform allow for closer interaction with the lotus fields, while an accessible scenic bridge connecting Honghu Park to Renmin Park is set to open soon, enabling easy movement between two of the city’s green landmarks. New amenities—such as shaded rest areas, smart fitness zones, water stations, EV charging spots, and intelligent sanitation and patrol vehicles—enhance both convenience and safety across the grounds.
This year’s festival will also introduce a series of trendy and interactive elements. Football fans can visit the Red Devils Fuel Station, Manchester United’s first official fan zone in Shenzhen, launching on June 12. The space offers exclusive merchandise and themed food and drink, bringing football culture into a lush park setting. Nearby, the park’s first coffee shop, Kaffa Future, caters to every preference—whether visitors opt for a quick espresso from an AI-powered machine or enjoy a hand-crafted drink made with premium beans and New Zealand milk by professional baristas.
At the park’s east entrance, the newly launched “Luohu Creative” project showcases locally inspired cultural products such as stickers, keychains, and playing cards, turning iconic images of Wutong Mountain, Dongmen Old Street, and the lotus flowers themselves into memorable souvenirs.
In addition, a new children’s play area has opened with a 280-square-meter cloud-like bouncy park set on a pink sandy base, alongside fun activities such as gold panning and crafts. Designed for all ages, the space encourages shared experiences between children and parents, adding a playful new dimension to the city’s green space.
