Bridge finals of the 15th National Games for All kick off in Shenzhen
The bridge finals of the 15th National Games for All officially opened on Monday at the Shenzhen Chess Institute (Yinhu).
The five-day competition marks the finale of board game events in Luohu District and brings together 60 teams and more than 440 athletes, coaches, and team leaders from across the country to compete for six gold medals.
As a sport combining strategy and fun, bridge has become an essential part of Luohu’s landscape of mind sports. This year’s event features the strongest lineup in the history of the National Games, with a record number of participants.
The six competition groups include the men’s open and amateur teams, women’s teams, mixed teams, and youth men’s and women’s teams. The players span a wide age range—from seasoned veterans such as 78-year-old Lei Huifang from the HKSAR team to young rising stars making their debut.
Shenzhen has sent 19 players to the finals, representing a broad range of ages and reflecting the city’s strong foundation for public participation in bridge.
To nurture future talent, Shenzhen has introduced youth categories (U12 and U15) in the “Shenzhen Cup” trial events and launched an invitational, pairing world bridge masters with young players for competition and learning.
As the round-robin and semifinal stages progress, the finals on November 7 will determine the winners of six gold medals.
