Shenzhen unveils master plan for Greater Wutong Ecological Integration Zone
The Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, together with the Luohu District People's Government, has released the spatial planning outline for the Greater Wutong Ecological Integration Zone — a vital "green heart" at the city's core.
Envisioned as a natural link between the landscapes of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the zone is set to become a living example of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. The plan aims to transform the area into an urban natural landscape park, a hub for sci-tech and cultural tourism, and a vibrant community ideal for living and working in.
Covering approximately 50 square kilometers, the zone stretches south to the mountain ranges of Hong Kong's New Territories, north to the administrative border of Luohu District, east to Shatoujiao in Yantian, and west to Buxin Mountain. The area encompasses several of Shenzhen's most iconic natural and cultural landmarks, including Wutong Mountain, Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Hongfa Temple, and Shenzhen Reservoir.
