Greater Bay Area smart manufacturing center launched in Shenzhen
The Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Application Scenario Innovation Center for Smart Manufacturing was officially launched in Shenzhen's Bao'an district on Nov. 30 during the 2025 Qianhai–Bao'an "Baojing Chuangxiang" Scenario Matchmaking Conference. The center was awarded to Bao'an by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
Built on Bao'an's strong manufacturing foundation and abundant real-world application scenarios, the new center will focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), industrial internet, big data and cloud computing. It aims to cultivate new industrial tracks, develop high-value demonstration cases, and create integrated cross-regional and cross-sector application scenarios. The center is envisioned as a premier GBA hub for validating smart manufacturing technologies and piloting first-of-its-kind products.
The conference attracted more than 760 companies and unveiled over 500 scenario opportunities and application capabilities, with more than 60 enterprises signing cooperation agreements on site. Over 150 companies showcased more than 500 new technologies and products spanning smart manufacturing, AI, the low-altitude economy and unmanned systems.
Among the 500-plus scenarios released, 288 were government-led, covering social governance, public services and sector-specific applications. Another 220 enterprise-driven scenarios focused on smart terminals, ultra-high-definition displays, semiconductors and integrated circuits, intelligent connected vehicles and the low-altitude economy.
Bao'an is home to nearly 560,000 enterprises, including almost 5,600 large-scale manufacturing firms across all 31 major industrial categories. The district also boasts nearly 400 square kilometers of land, 175 square kilometers of sea area and an extensive multimodal transportation network integrating air, sea, high-speed rail, intercity rail, expressways and metro lines.
