Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Guangzhou Emissions Exchange, Shenzhen Emissions Exchange, and Macau International Carbon Exchange to jointly promote the development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area carbon market and green finance ecosystem.

Under the MoU, the four exchanges will explore cooperation opportunities in carbon trading and green finance, facilitate experience sharing and knowledge exchange, and strengthen institutional and professional capabilities in carbon market operations and green finance, thereby advancing the region's carbon market development.
