On the morning of Feb. 24, a batch of key construction projects started in all districts across Shenzhen, among which seven are education projects in Luohu.

The latter are the expansion project of Guiyuan Middle School and the Dongxiao campus of Cuiyuan Middle School, demolition and construction projects at Taining Primary School and Buxin Primary School, expansion of Songquan Middle School, the construction project of makeshift campuses in the 07-07 plot of Donghu bus station and the LH-049 plot under the jurisdiction of Qingshuihe sub-district office.

After the seven projects are finished, they will provide a total of more than 12,000 additional places making it easier for children in Luohu to secure a seat in a public school.

The expansion project of the Guiyuan Middle School, with an overall construction area of about 79,000 square meters, needs a total investment of 600 million yuan ($92.76 million). The project will offer 2,400 extra seats.

The expansion project of the Dongxiao campus of the Cuiyuan Middle School costs 210 million yuan., and after it is finished, it can offer 2,100 new seats for students.

The expansion project of Taining Primary School, needs an investment of 266 million yuan. The overall floorage will reach 30,891 square meters. After the project is finished, it will provide 1,620 new seats.

The project of Buxin Primary School, with a total construction area of 44,213 square meters, will cost 377 million yuan, and provide 540 extra places for students.

The expansion project of Songquan Middle School, with a construction area of 60,531 square meters, will cost 508 million yuan and create 810 new places.

The government’s input into these projects reflects the significance Luohu attaches to the education, which it regards as a key part of public services.
