Help hotline available for gaokao participants in case of emergency
Students taking the National College Entrance Examinations (NCEE), also known as gaokao, can call the police 24-hour hotline at 8333-3333 if emergencies arise during the examination period from Monday to Wednesday, police announced in a news release yesterday.
This is one of the 20 measures that the police are taking for the gaokao.
They can also ask for help from vehicles marked as Shenzhen Police NCEE Vehicles that will be stationed at examination sites and patrolling the roads.
If a vehicle taking students to the exams gets involved in a minor accident, police will try to release the vehicle from the scene of the accident as quickly as they can after completing a simple investigation. For an accident that causes serious damage or injuries, police will arrange for motorcycles to carry the students to the exam sites, while the accident investigation goes under way.
Vehicles carrying exam takers are allowed to use bus lanes if traffic is congested in the other lanes. Drivers need to register with the students’ test certificate numbers by calling 8333-3333 within 24 hours of using bus lanes. Nonlocally registered vehicles planning to carry gaokao participants need to apply for a temporary permit to drive on roads that are restricted for nonlocal vehicles on workdays.
Dump trucks will be banned from using roads, and construction sites within 500 meters of the test sites will halt construction.
A total of 2,000 traffic police officers with the traffic police motorcycle squad will be on patrol on 141 major roads and at 130 easily congested places.
Police will set up service stations at all exam locations and be providing raincoats, umbrellas, medicine and drinking water.
A police car and motorcycle will be on duty at each site in case of emergencies. Police will also designate temporary parking areas for parents to drop off and pick up students in the surrounding areas near examination venues.
