The year 2020 marks the beginning of Shenzhen initiation of its waste-free city construction program.
So far this year, Luohu has explored its model in building a waste-free city based on three industries - catering, community-based rehabilitation and auto repair.
At least 59 companies are taking part. Special attention is also being paid to raising people's awareness on the importance of the work.
Luohu encourages enterprises to undertake production in a more economical way, trying their best to recycle industrial and life wastes, and conduct bio-safety disposal of waste if necessary. It has also founded an evaluation system of enterprise solid waste disposal.
To ensure the waste-free city program works better, Luohu has consulted with solid waste disposal experts, representatives of relevant industries and the environmental protection, transportation, public health, resources and industry administrative departments.
All of the three communities earmarked to pilot the program are attaching great significance to the work. They regularly hold work conferences to synergize the efforts of different parties to ensure they can collaborate well with each other in all aspects of waste disposal.
In September, the Luohu ecology and environmental bureau assessed the performances of the 59 participating enterprises in the program, with more than 40 passing the assessment, and some of their practices approved to be rolled out across the city.
