Luohu’s livestreaming-commerce praised as poverty reduction model

Praise for it came during an Internet governance forum of Guangdong province on Dec. 18 co-hosted by the Sun Yat-sen University, Tencent and the Nanfang Media Group in Guangzhou.
This year Luohu has being doing a good job in its assistance to poverty alleviation work in Longlin and Xilin counties in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, as well as Lufeng in Guangdong province.
In May, governments heads of the Luohu district as well as the Longlin and Xilin counties of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, presided over an online promotional activity, when the online sales of the counties’ specialties soared more than 12-fold from their usual level.
Luohu organized training sessions for the e-commerce practitioners in the two counties, and has been encouraging supermarkets in the district to cooperate with agricultural cooperatives in the two counties.
Over the past year, Luohu also provided a great deal of help to the two counties in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak, and has worked to attract surplus laborers from the two counties to work in thePearl River Delta.
Thanks to Luohu’s contribution, Longlin, Xilin and Lufeng had managed to eliminate rural poverty by November.
